Day 21

Day 21

Just Ask!

If you need wisdom––if you want to know what God wants you to do––ask Him, and He will gladly tell you. He will not resent your asking. (James 1:5)

Ask why people don’t lead bigger lives, for lives with greater impact and influence start with one simple step: asking God for it. Ask because He knows you need it: “Your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask Him!” (Matthew 6:8) Ask, especially if it will bring glory to God: “You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, because the work of the Son brings glory to the Father” (John 14:13). Ask and remain in God’s Word for the answer: “If you stayed joined to me and my words remain in you, you may ask any request you like, and it will be granted!” (John 15:7) Ask with right motives: “You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous for what others have, and you can’t possess it, so you fight and quarrel to take it away from them. And yet the reason you don’t have what you want is that you don’t ask God for it. And even when you do ask, you don’t get it because your whole motive is wrong––you want only what will give you pleasure” (James 4:2-3). Ask, and if it’s God’s will, He will say yes: “We can be confident that He will listen to us whenever we ask Him for anything in line with His will. And if we know He is listening when we make our requests, we can be sure that He will give us what we ask for” (1 John 5:14-15). Just Ask! The worst God will say is no. But He just may, and most likely will, say yes!

Lord, give me the confidence to ask.

What is God saying to you right now? Jot down those thoughts and pray them back to Him.
